madness of trending, and other news

Oh, the mad irony. Having published a blog piece about not particularly enjoying it when blog posts I'd written appeared on the Bearblog Discover Trending page in the past (the horror of too many readers)—I see that very post has now appeared on the Bearblog Discover Trending page.

I see lying on the sofa blubbing softly to myself in a dark room with everything turned off in my immediate future.

further emails

My tongue-in-cheek rant about how many emails we get for a simple online purchase these days (the never-ending emails) continues. The parcel arrived (3 more emails) last evening, and I didn't open it until this morning—knowing the utter mundanity of what it contained, I was in no great excited rush.

It contained the wrong pencil.

I have sent the vendor an email.

late flowering

Our magnolia tree has decided that it has enough energy to have a second go at flowering. It did the normal spring flowering, has been growing well in the mix of heatwaves then showery dull greyness that we've called summer here, and is having a final show-off just as autumn is starting. A welcome bit of colour before the yellow, gold and brown season starts. This is today's #ThisWasGood discovery.

There is a star to click down here, if you have been fully trained by modern social media to click stars mindlessly whenever you see them.
I have been similarly fully trained to receive them gratefully.
