Gwynnik, Gull, Lundy

I am calling this picture 'Gwynnik, Gull, Lundy'

DSC_1440GwynnGullLundy. A square format photo of a sun-dried and yellowed long grass meadow with a small white terrier running about in it in the mid-foreground. A blue sea is visible behind that, with a distant hazy lump which is Lundy Island in the Bristol Channel just about visible on the horizon (about 30 miles away). Above that is a cloudless blue sky. Just above and to the right of the dog, a gull is photobombing the scene by flying above her in the blue sky and off towards the right of the frame.

 

We had to drop J off to work at 8.30am. Her workplace is on the coastal road, so we said our goodbyes to her and then headed out to a spot on the coast path to grab an early morning walk. We wanted to make the best of a fine morning before the expected radiation and expected 30° temperature increase of the day made it less comfortable to do anything. It was already warm, but being close to the sea meant there was a fresh and cooling breeze.

Gwynnik is the small white terrier. She is rarely in focus, just like she isn't here. In fairness, she was running about in the long and dry grass looking for a ball I'd thrown. It's one of the more spectacular places we use for ball chase games. Not that she takes any notice of the views.

I don't know the gull's name, so it's just Gull.

Lundy is the faint darker shape in the haze, in the centre of the horizon. It is an island in the middle of the Bristol Channel. It's only about 3 miles long, and is around 30 miles off the coast from here. You can read more about it here if you like.

It's not a great picture, but I liked it because of completely randomly getting photobombed by the gull. It's the sort of momentary and fleeting coincidence that makes me smile and think 'that was good'. I witnessed this temporary arrangement of things in the universe. And I got its picture.

You will notice that 'Gwynnik, Gull, Lundy' is not in alphabetical order. That is because I went in 'distance from the camera' order instead.
